Anaesthesulf is a medicine with a mild local anaesthetic effect. Anaesthesulf is used in infants, children and adults to relieve itching, e.g. in the case of varicella (chickenpox and shingles) on the skin.
2. WHAT SHOULD YOU CONSIDER BEFORE USING ANAESTHESULF LOTION?
Anaesthesulf must not be used:
- if you are allergic to lauromacrogol 400 or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- in premature babies in the first few weeks of life.
Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Anaesthesulf. If you use Anaesthesulf on your face: Do not rub Anaesthesulf into your eyes!Using Anaesthesulf together with other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines.Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine. You should then not use Anaesthesulf over a large area and for no longer than 1 week or, on the express advice of your doctor, for a maximum of 2 weeks. If you are breast-feeding, please do not use Anaesthesulf on your breasts.Driving and using machines
Anaesthesulf has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.Anaesthesulf contains propylene glycol
Propylene glycol can cause skin irritation.3. HOW TO USE ANAESTHESULF LOTION?
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this package leaflet or exactly as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Shake the bottle well before use! Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, Anaesthesulf is applied thinly to the itchy areas of skin one to three times a day using a cotton wool ball. The suspension can also be applied over a large area. After treatment, the suspension can be easily rinsed off with lukewarm water.
Duration of use
The duration of use depends on the type and course of the clinical picture. In children, Anaesthesulf must not be used for longer than 1 week. In adults, Anaesthesulf should not be used for longer than 1 week without medical advice. If you want to use Anaesthesulf in adults for longer than one week, talk to your doctor beforehand.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Anaesthesulf is too strong or too weak.
If you have used more Anaesthesulf than you should
Use nourishing, fatty ointments on dry, cracked areas of skin.If you forget to use Anaesthesulf
Continue treatment immediately with the amount used previously.If you stop using Anaesthesulf

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The following category is used as a basis for the frequency of side effects
Rare - 1 to 10 in 10,000 people treated:- Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions may occur.

Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the bottle and the outer carton after "Use by:". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated. No special storage conditions are required for the unopened medicine. Do not store above 25°C after first opening. Shelf life after opening: 3 months. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine if you no longer use it. You thus help to protect the environment.

The active ingredient is: Lauromacrogol 400 (Ph. Eur.) (old name: Polidocanol). 100 g suspension contains 8 g lauromacrogol 400 (Ph. Eur.).
