Background information on warts
Warts are harmless skin growths caused by human papillomaviruses (HPV). There are a variety of types of warts, but the most common are common warts and plantar warts. They are benign ulcers that consist of a core of connective tissue with blood vessels and are enveloped by epithelial tissue. Common warts can be recognized by their "cauliflower-like" surface. They usually occur on the hands and feet. Plantar warts are similar to common warts, but only occur on pressure points on the feet. Plantar warts have a flat, smooth surface, are often covered by calluses or corns, and grow thorn-like into the depth, which is why they can cause severe pain when walking. For the treatment of foot or plantar warts, we recommend Wartner against foot warts, which has been specially designed for this purpose. 7 - 10% of the total population are affected by warts at least once in their life, especially children and adolescents. Warts are extremely contagious and occur more frequently the weaker the immune system is. They can spread from one person to another through touch or contact with skin or skin flakes, or they can spread from one part of the body to another. More than 50% of all warts disappear within 2 years without treatment. However, warts are unsightly and in the case of plantar warts can even cause pain. Therefore, patients often decide to do something about their warts instead of waiting for them to disappear on their own. Warts are traditionally treated mainly in 2 ways: with acid tinctures, which are applied directly to the wart, or by treatment by a doctor in the form of laser, burning, freezing (with liquid nitrogen) or even a surgical procedure. Wartner is an effective, practical and easy-to-use alternative to freezing by a doctor. However, if you want to remove a wart that is larger than 7.5 mm in diameter, please consult your doctor. How does Wartner work?
Wartner uses the same technique that doctors have been using for years: freezing.
- Wartner immediately freezes the wart down to the root. When you press the foam applicator onto the wart, the skin turns white and a slightly painful, stinging sensation occurs as a result of the freezing. After the applicator has been removed, the skin gradually regains its natural colour. The painful, stinging sensation will also quickly subside and disappear completely within a maximum of 24 hours.
- After the skin area has "thawed" and regained its original colour, redness may occur over the size of the frozen area. The freezing can also lead to the formation of a blister under the wart within a few days. This may not be visible to the naked eye. The frozen skin with the treated wart will gradually disappear or fall off completely after 10 - 14 days. During this time, new, healthy skin has already formed under the wart.
- As with all freezing methods, the skin may temporarily turn white.
- It is important that the product is used as prescribed, as freezing can be too intensive if used incorrectly or if the instructions for use are not followed. This can lead to scarring, nerve damage and/or tissue damage (necrosis).
- If healthy tissue on the fingers or toes comes into contact with the product (which can occur due to freezing for longer than specified), this can lead to local tissue death.
- In rare cases, a larger blister may form, which may be painful.
- After the wart has fallen off, there may be some loss of pigment and possibly small scars.
- The use of Wartner can rarely lead to slight burns due to the deep freezing temperature.
- Wartner should always be used in accordance with these instructions for use to minimize the risk of side effects.
In certain cases you should not use Wartner
If you are not absolutely sure that it is a wart, consult a doctor before using Wartner. Wartner is suitable for children from 4 years of age, but should only be used by adults. If you are diabetic, you should not use Wartner, as the frozen tissue may heal very slowly or not at all. Wartner should also not be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women or by people suffering from Raynaud's syndrome. People with poor circulation should consult their doctor before using Wartner. Wartner is intended for use on hands and feet only. Do not use on sensitive or thin skin (such as the face, neck, armpits, chest, buttocks or genitals). Do not use on irritated skin or on areas that are red or show signs of inflammation such as itching or swelling. Do not use on dark moles, on dark-coloured, hairy or unusual-looking skin conditions that look like common warts. Not suitable for the treatment of flat warts.Precautions:
- If you are not sure whether it is a wart, consult a doctor.
- For external use only; do not swallow or inhale and use only in well-ventilated areas.
- Wash your hands immediately after use (apart from the treated area).
- Only use Wartner with the enclosed foam applicators.
- Use a new foam applicator for each wart and use each applicator only once.
- If the wart is on the back of the hand or foot, slowly move your fingers or toes during treatment.
- Avoid contact with healthy skin surrounding the wart. This can be protected, for example, with Vaseline or a fatty ointment.
- Do not apply excessive pressure to the applicator during freezing.
- The applicator should be placed on the hand wart for a maximum of 20 seconds and on the foot wart for a maximum of 40 seconds. If the surrounding skin turns white beforehand, remove the applicator from the skin.
- Do not dab the tissue surrounding the wart.
- If several warts are close together, especially on the hand, fingers, foot or toes, only one wart should be treated at a time. The remaining warts should be treated individually at intervals of 2 weeks.
- Old and large warts can sometimes be difficult to remove, so more than one application is often necessary in this case.
- If more than one application is necessary, repeat the treatment after 2 weeks. In total, the wart should not be treated with Wartner more than 3 times. If no result has been achieved after 3 treatments, consult your doctor.
- Wartner contains highly flammable ingredients: Use this product in a well-ventilated area and keep at least 1m away from fire, open flame, heat, direct sunlight, electrostatic and electrical sources including light. Do not smoke or hold near lighted cigarettes. Do not expose to temperatures above 50°C (e.g. electric light) during use. The spray can should preferably be held upright, in an open environment and at some distance from the body. It should not be placed on a solid surface.

Instructions for use
Please read the detailed information in these instructions for use carefully and completely before use. One treatment is usually sufficient. 10 - 14 days after treatment with Wartner, the warts have usually disappeared. Old and large warts sometimes require more than one treatment. If the wart or part of it is still there after 14 days, the treatment can be repeated without hesitation. Use a new applicator for each treatment and then discard it. Consult your doctor if there is no improvement after 3 treatments.Easy application in 4 steps:
- Step 1: Take the foam applicator by the blue side between your thumb and forefinger and press on it until a small opening becomes visible. Now slide the opening of the foam applicator over the pin of the plastic holder until the pin is no longer visible.
- Step 2: Hold the spray can preferably in an upright position at some distance from your body. Make sure that the spray can is not near open flames or any electrical sources. Also avoid heat and direct sunlight. Insert the plastic holder with the foam applicator into the opening on the top of the lid so that the foam applicator is no longer visible. Hold the can firmly at the bottom with one hand while pressing the holder firmly into the can with the other hand for 3 seconds (count from 21 to 23). You will hear a hissing sound during this time. Then pull the holder with the foam applicator out of the valve. The foam applicator has now filled with cold liquid and condensation is forming. This condensation is harmless.
- Step 3: To achieve a colder and therefore more effective freezing temperature, please wait 20 seconds after removing the holder with the applicator from the can.
- Step 4: After waiting 20 seconds, press the plastic holder with the foam applicator lightly onto the wart for 20 seconds for warts on the hands and for 40 seconds for warts on the feet. Ensure continuous contact with the area to be treated. You should press the foam applicator onto the wart for the necessary time. The freezing will cause a slightly painful, stinging sensation. After treatment, wait 2 minutes before pulling the foam applicator off the plastic holder with a tissue. Discard the foam applicator after a single use. Do not reuse the foam applicator or touch its tip with bare hands to avoid re-infection.
- Keep the treated area clean.
- Swimming and showering is permitted.
- Do not scratch or pick at treated warts.
- If necessary, protect blisters with a plaster and do not puncture them.
- If the painful, stinging sensation persists or other complications occur, consult your doctor.
