Refluthin Chewable Tablets for Heartburn

Refluthin Chewable Tablets are a medical device for the fast and lasting relief of heartburn and acid-related stomach problems. For adults and adolescents aged 12 and over. Recurring acid-related stomach problems, such as heartburn, acid reflux or persistent pressure in the stomach, are unpleasant and can be caused by stressful situations or certain foods and medications. This is where Refluthin Chewable Tablets help. The unique combination of mineral acid buffers (calcium and magnesium carbonate) and highly concentrated plant-based protective substances from the prickly pear cactus counteracts acid-related problems in two ways. Excess stomach acid is quickly neutralised. This leads to rapid relief of acute symptoms such as heartburn and acid reflux. At the same time, a soothing protective film forms on the irritated oesophageal and gastric mucosa. The active ingredients magnesium carbonate, calcium carbonate and prickly pear cactus extract are released as soon as the tablets are chewed. This means that they are immediately available in the stomach and can develop their effect immediately. The symptoms subside quickly. Refluthin Chewable Tablets can be taken at the first sign of discomfort. Just one chewable tablet absorbs the excess stomach acid and relieves heartburn immediately. Refluthin Chewable Tablets are well tolerated - optionally with mint or fruit flavour.

What is heartburn and how is it treated?
Heartburn is usually perceived as a burning sensation in the stomach that can radiate into the chest. The cause is an excess of stomach acid and a backflow of stomach contents into the oesophagus. This can also cause inflammation and pain in the oesophagus. Stress, unhealthy eating habits and hasty eating are common triggers for the symptoms.

Dosage and application

Unless otherwise recommended, adults and adolescents aged 12 and over take 1 chewable tablet as a single dose as needed. If necessary, 1 chewable tablet can be taken up to 4 times a day. Refluthin Chewable Tablets are preferably taken one hour after meals, if necessary also before going to bed or in between meals. The chewable tablets can be sucked or chewed. Refluthin Chewable Tablets may interact with oral medications, so take Refluthin Chewable Tablets 1-2 hours apart from these medications and inform your doctor. Do not take for more than 30 days. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, please consult your doctor or pharmacist. Note for diabetics: 1 chewable tablet contains up to 0.56 g sorbitol. May have a laxative effect if consumed excessively.

Warnings and precautions for use

Prolonged use of high doses could lead to a potentially serious condition called milk-alkali syndrome (Burnett syndrome). This disease is associated with high blood calcium levels (e.g. hypercalcaemia), impaired kidney function and in some cases pancreatitis, and can manifest as frequent urination, headaches, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting, unusual fatigue or weakness. It is therefore recommended not to use Refluthin Chewable Tablets for more than 14 days without interruption and not to take more than 4 tablets per day. Excessive intake of calcium, especially with a calcium-rich diet (e.g. milk, cream, cheese, yoghurt, calcium supplements), should be avoided. If you are taking a thiazide diuretic (a medication for high blood pressure or heart failure), please consult your doctor before use.

When should Refluthin Chewable Tablets not be used?

• In case of hypersensitivity or allergy to one or more ingredients.
• In case of hereditary (genetic) fructose intolerance.
• In children and adolescents under 12 years of age.
• In case of kidney problems (e.g. kidney stones, kidney dysfunction).
• In case of excessive calcium concentrations in the blood or urine.
• In case of a low phosphate level in the blood.

Pack sizes

Packs of 8 (non-saleable sample), 16 and 48 chewable tablets are available.

Composition

1 chewable tablet contains: 450 mg calcium carbonate, 50 mg magnesium carbonate, 75 mg prickly pear cactus extract (Opunxia 70), sorbitol, corn starch, maltodextrin, peppermint oil, magnesium stearate.

Refluthin Chewable Tablets do not contain any preservatives or artificial colours. Gluten-free. Lactose-free. Store in a cool, dry place, protected from heat and light. Keep out of reach of children. The expiry date on the packaging and the blister pack refers to the product when stored properly.
