W-Tropfen, solution for corns and calluses for application to the skin
Active ingredients: salicylic acid and lactic acid

1. WHAT IS W-TROPFEN AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

W-Tropfen solution is used to remove corns and calluses.

2. WHAT SHOULD YOU CONSIDER BEFORE USING W-TROPFEN?

W-Tropfen must not be used:

• if you are hypersensitive to any of the active ingredients or any of the excipients
• in case of impaired renal function
• on moles
• on hairy warts
• on warts in the genital area or face.

Special care is required when using W-Tropfen solution

W-Tropfen must not come into contact with mucous membranes, in particular contact with the eyes must be avoided.

Children and infants

W-Tropfen should not be used in infants. In children, long-term treatment on large areas should be avoided.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

W-Tropfen may only be used on a small area (less than 5 cm2) during pregnancy. W-Tropfen must not be used on the nursing breast. Accidental ingestion of W-Tropfen by the infant through contact with the treated area of the body must be avoided. If the doctor considers regular treatment of large areas of skin with W-Tropfen to be necessary, breastfeeding should be stopped early, as risks due to insufficient detoxification in newborns cannot be ruled out.

Use of W-Tropfen together with other medicines

Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines or intend to take other medicines, even if they are non-prescription medicines. Salicylic acid can increase the absorption of other topically applied medicines. Salicylic acid absorbed through the skin can interact with certain substances (methotrexate and sulfonylureas).

3. HOW TO USE W-TROPFEN?

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this package leaflet or exactly as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose and type and duration of use

Unless otherwise prescribed, apply 1-2 drops of the solution to the area to be treated 1-2 times a day for 4-5 days, spread and allow to dry. In stubborn cases, repeat the treatment, but wait until the previously applied layer has dried completely. To protect healthy skin, it can be covered with petroleum jelly. Close the bottle immediately after use. With regular use, the softened callus can be easily removed after 3-5 days. A hot bath makes it easier to remove the softened callus and the corn. The treatment can be repeated if necessary.

If you have used more W-Tropfen than you should

In the case of external application of salicylic acid preparations, no toxic side effects are generally to be expected, even if the specified maximum amounts are exceeded for a short period of time. Local skin irritation may occur. As a countermeasure, it is sufficient to remove the preparation.

If you have accidentally swallowed W-Tropfen

Rinse your mouth immediately with plenty of water. Then seek medical attention without delay.

If you forget to use W-Tropfen

Continue treatment as directed in the dosage instructions or as prescribed by your doctor (e.g., do not apply the solution more frequently or more thickly).

If you stop using W-Tropfen

If your doctor has specified a certain period of use, you should adhere to it so as not to jeopardize the success of the treatment with W-Tropfen. If you are unsure in such cases, e.g. because of side effects, talk to your doctor before interrupting or prematurely ending the treatment.

4. WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?

Like all medicines, W-Tropfen can have side effects. The following frequency information is used to assess side effects

Not known:	frequency cannot be estimated from the available data.

Local (local) side effects

Rarely, W-Tropfen can cause local skin irritation (redness or burning), which normally disappears again within a short time. If the skin is excessively irritated, you should stop treatment with W-Tropfen. In individual cases, contact allergies may occur. If you notice any side effects that are not listed in this package leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

5. HOW TO STORE W-TROPFEN?

Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. Highly flammable. Protect from open flames. Always keep W-Tropfen tightly closed! Do not store W-Tropfen above 25°C. The expiry date of this pack is printed on the label and carton. Do not use this pack after this date! The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated. Notes on shelf life after opening: W-Tropfen can be stored for 1 year after opening the container. W-Tropfen should no longer be used after the solution has dried.

6. CONTENTS OF THE PACK AND OTHER INFORMATION

The active ingredients are salicylic acid (Ph. Eur.) and lactic acid (Ph. Eur.). 1 g W-Tropfen contains: salicylic acid (Ph. Eur.) 120 mg, lactic acid (Ph. Eur.) 49 mg. The other ingredients are: ether, ethyl acetate, 2-propanol (Ph. Eur.), pyroxylin, heavy liquid paraffin, refined castor oil.

W-Tropfen is a clear, viscous solution and is available in bottles with applicator of 10 ml.
