The little brother of the great Brunello. With an excellent structure and great personality, the »Rosso di Montalcino« is a very important wine for Tenuta Il Poggione. The wine is made entirely from Sangiovese grapes, matures for 12 months in both large wooden barrels and barriques and then in the bottle. Although the use of wood is not obligatory for this wine, it softens the typical Sangiovese tannins and gives the wine complexity and a dense structure. The bouquet convinces with aromas of dark, tart fruits, sweet spices and herbs. The wine seduces with light wood and vanilla tones. It is the ideal companion to beef, pork and game.
