They taste of honey and caramel and are sweeter, much larger, and softer than many of their date relatives.
Medjool dates are a special variety of dates. They are particularly large, sweet, and juicy. They come from organic farming and are therefore free from artificial pesticides and fertilizers. They are also rich in fiber, which makes them a healthy snack. They can be eaten directly from the packaging, or they can be used in various dishes, for example in salads, muesli, or baked goods.
If you leave the dates at room temperature, they will slowly dry out, so you can store them chilled for a longer-lasting taste experience. The dates can even be frozen and thawed again, and this can be repeated without harming the date. Light coatings on dried figs and dates are not mold, but crystallized sugar. However, black spots in the fruit flesh can be mold.
