- 200 g Basmati rice
- 1.5 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 pinch fine table salt
Place the rice in a sieve and rinse thoroughly 4–5 times under running water until the water is almost clear. Heat a medium-sized pot over medium heat, add 1.5 tbsp olive oil, then add the drained rice and stir briefly so that all grains are coated with oil.
Salt the rice, pour in 300 ml of water, and bring to a boil over high heat. Once the water boils, reduce the heat to the lowest setting, cover the pot with a lid, and let the rice simmer for approx. 18–20 minutes.
After the cooking time, remove the pot from the heat and let the rice rest for another 5–10 minutes with the lid closed. Gently fluff the cooked rice with a fork and serve.
Chef's tip
For an even more intense aroma, you can add a cinnamon stick or two green cardamom pods when sautéing.
