  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 shallots
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 200 g whole grain long-grain rice
  • 1 carrot
  • 150 g chicken breast ham
  • 100 g frozen peas
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper
  • 1 l water

Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the finely chopped shallots and minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes. Then add the rice, toast it briefly, and pour in the water. Season with salt and pepper, cover, and simmer for about 20–30 minutes until the rice is cooked. Add a little more water if needed.

Meanwhile, coarsely grate the carrot and cut the chicken breast ham into small cubes.

Once the rice is cooked, stir in the peas, ham, and grated carrots. Reduce the heat to the lowest setting and let everything simmer for another 2 minutes until the vegetables are hot. Serve and enjoy!

Chef's tip

For an extra creamy touch, you can stir in a small piece of butter or a spoonful of cream cheese at the end.
