Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 shallots
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 200 g whole grain long-grain rice
  • 1 carrot
  • 150 g chicken breast ham
  • 100 g frozen peas
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper
  • 1 l still water

Preparation

    Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Finely chop the shallots and garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes. Add the rice and toast for another 1–2 minutes.

    Pour in water, season with salt and pepper, and simmer with the lid closed for about 20–30 minutes until the rice is cooked. Add a little more water if needed.

    Meanwhile, coarsely grate the carrot and cut the chicken breast ham into small cubes.

    Once the rice is cooked, stir in the peas, ham, and carrots. Reduce the heat and let everything simmer together for another 2 minutes. Serve hot.
