Remove the meat from the refrigerator before grilling and bring to room temperature. Peel the onions and cut them into half rings. Sauté them in a pan with a little sunflower oil. Once they are translucent, add the BBQ sauce and let them caramelize over low heat.
Stir the mayonnaise smooth with the smoked paprika powder and let it steep in the refrigerator until use.
Grilling & Serving
Brush the meat patties with a little oil, season with pepper (and salt if needed), and grill on the hot grill for about 4 minutes per side, so they remain slightly pink inside. At the same time, fry the bacon until crispy and toast the halved buns on the cut sides. Once the meat is done, sprinkle with grated Parmesan and let rest for one minute.
Chef's tip
For a particularly intense aroma, you can brush the burger buns with a little butter before toasting.
