  • 500 g tomatoes
  • 500 g watermelon (flesh)
  • 1 handful fresh basil
  • 2 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 70 ml sunflower oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 3 tsp freshly grated ginger

Wash and dry the tomatoes, remove the hard core, and cut into cubes of approx. 3x2 cm. Cut the chilled watermelon into cubes of the same size as the tomatoes. Cut the basil into fine strips.

In a large bowl, whisk together vinegar, oil, salt, sugar, and grated ginger until the sugar has completely dissolved.

Add the tomato and watermelon cubes to the bowl and gently mix with the dressing. Sprinkle with basil strips and serve immediately.

Chef's tip

The salad tastes best when the watermelon comes directly from the refrigerator. This makes it especially refreshing on hot summer days.
