Preparation method
Sauce Preparation
First, prepare the sauce. Put the strained tomatoes into a small pot. Press in the garlic clove and add oregano and salt to taste. Stir everything well and bring to a boil. Let the sauce simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 15–20 minutes until it has thickened. Then let it cool completely.
Rolling and Shaping
Roll out the fresh puff pastry to about 2 mm thick. Spread the entire surface with the cooled tomato sauce, leaving a strip about 2 cm wide free at the top edge. Cover the spread surface evenly with the cooked ham. Now roll up the dough tightly from the bottom long side.
Preheat the oven to 180 °C (top/bottom heat) and line a baking sheet with baking paper.
Chef's tip
From leftover puff pastry, you can cut out fun stars or hearts with cookie cutters, brush them with beaten egg, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and also bake them at 180 °C until golden yellow.
