Preparation method
Preparation & Tzatziki
Pat the turkey breast dry and cut into bite-sized strips. Peel and finely chop the garlic cloves. Rinse the lemon with hot water and cut it in half. In a bowl, combine the turkey with 2 tbsp of olive oil, the juice of half a lemon, two-thirds of the minced garlic, the dried oregano, as well as 0.5 tsp of salt and a pinch of pepper, and let it marinate briefly.
For the tzatziki, coarsely grate the cucumber, sprinkle with a pinch of salt, let rest briefly, and then squeeze thoroughly in a clean cloth. Finely chop the dill. Mix the grated cucumber with the Greek yogurt, the remaining garlic, finely chopped dill, a splash of lemon juice, 1 tsp of olive oil, salt, and pepper, and chill.
Frying & Serving
Core and deseed the red bell peppers and cut into thin strips. Peel the red onion and slice into half-moons.
Chef's tip
For an extra intense flavor, the meat can be marinated in the souvlaki marinade the night before or in the morning.
Leftovers are great the next day as a filling for pita bread or a fresh Mediterranean wrap.
