Ingredients
- 500g white bread
- 500ml milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 onion
- 3 tbsp flour
- 1 tsp butter
- 1 bunch parsley
- 1 pinch nutmeg
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch pepper
Preparation
- 1First, cut the white bread into thin slices or small cubes. Warm the milk and pour it over the cubes, letting it soak in for a few minutes.
- 2Next, whisk the eggs and finely chop the parsley. Then knead the eggs, parsley, salt, pepper, and nutmeg into the soaked mixture – this works best with moist, cold hands.
- 3Now finely chop the onion and sauté it with butter, then add it to the dumpling mixture.
- 4Now you can form dumplings of any desired size with moist hands and roll them in flour.
- 5Finally, cook the formed dumplings in salted water for 15 to 20 minutes, depending on their size, until they float to the surface, then you can remove them and enjoy.
Tip
If you want to make bacon dumplings, simply add diced bacon to the dumpling mixture.
