Ingredients

  • 2 slices Toast bread
  • 30 g unsalted butter
  • 2 slices cooked ham
  • 2 slices Gruyere cheese
  • 1 tsp neutral vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper

Preparation

    Preheat the oven to 200 °C (top/bottom heat).

    Melt the butter in a pan and toast the bread slices until golden brown on both sides. Place ham and Gruyère cheese alternately on one toasted slice. Cover with the second slice of toast.

    Briefly bake the sandwich in the oven until the cheese is melted.

    Meanwhile, heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Carefully crack an egg into it (optionally use a metal ring) and fry until the egg white is set but the yolk is still runny.

    Place the fried egg on top of the baked sandwich, season with salt and pepper, and serve immediately.
Tip
For a perfect fried egg, it is recommended to use a metal ring (Ø 8–10 cm) and a non-stick pan.
Serve with a fresh green leaf salad with a light vinaigrette.
