Preparation method

Prepare Bao Buns

Pile the flour onto a work surface and form a well in the center. Add salt, crumbled yeast, and lukewarm water into the well.

Knead all ingredients thoroughly until a smooth, pliable dough forms. Let the dough rise, covered, in a warm place for approx. 30 minutes.

Form flat discs from the dough and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 10-15 minutes until they have risen slightly.

Chef's tip

For a particularly authentic texture, you can also steam the Bao Buns in a bamboo steamer over boiling water for approx. 10-12 minutes instead of baking them.
