Preparation method
Ingredients overview
- 500 ml Sangria
- 80 ml Brandy
- 2 tbsp Refined Sugar
- 1 Orange
- 10 Whole Cloves
- 1 Cinnamon Stick
- 1 Pinch Ground Cinnamon
- 1 Pinch Ground Nutmeg
Place the sugar, cloves, cinnamon stick, a pinch of ground cinnamon, and freshly grated nutmeg into a small pot. Mix everything well and let it lightly caramelize over medium heat.
Pour in the brandy and the juice of one orange, then top up with the sangria. Bring the mixture to a boil. As soon as the first bubbles appear, remove the pot from the heat. For a more intense spice aroma, you can let the mulled wine steep for a few more minutes over low heat.
Chef's tip
For a finer taste, you can strain the mulled wine through a sieve before serving. Garnish the glasses with a fresh orange slice or berries like blackberries. Best enjoyed hot immediately!
