Preparation method

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees top/bottom heat.

Roll out the puff pastry on baking paper into two equally sized rectangles (approx. 20x30 cm). Whisk the egg and mix with the thyme leaves and freshly ground pepper. Brush the pastry with this mixture and sprinkle evenly with grated Cheddar.

Place a second sheet of baking paper on top and gently press the cheese into the dough (with a rolling pin or your palms). Carefully peel off the paper and cut the dough into strips about 2 cm wide with a knife or pastry wheel.

Chef's tip

Serve the sticks warm or cold with a glass of wine or beer. They can also be prepared in advance and briefly reheated just before serving.
