Ingredients for the Rolls

  • 500 g Wheat Flour Type 405
  • 250 ml Still Water
  • 80 ml Neutral Vegetable Oil
  • 21 g Fresh Yeast
  • 2 tsp Fine Table Salt
  • 250 g Classic Mozzarella
  • 100 g Breakfast Bacon
  • 1 tsp Dried Marjoram
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Chives

For Brushing and Sprinkling

  • 1 piece Eggs 10-pack
  • 1 tbsp Whole Poppy Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Whole Caraway Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Whole Sesame Seeds

Serving Suggestion

  • 100 g Natural Cream Cheese
  • 100 g Fine Liver Sausage

Prepare the Dough

    Place the flour in a bowl. Dissolve the fresh yeast in lukewarm water and add it to the flour along with the oil, salt, marjoram, garlic granules, and finely chopped chives.

    Cut the mozzarella into small cubes and finely dice the bacon. Add both to the dough as well.

    Knead everything by hand or with a food processor to form a smooth dough. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 30-45 minutes until its volume has significantly increased.

Shape and Bake

    Divide the dough into 10 equal portions. Shape each portion by hand into a round ball (roll).

    Place the rolls in a greased baking dish or one lined with parchment paper.

    Whisk the egg with a pinch of salt. Generously brush the rolls with the egg.

    Sprinkle with poppy seeds, caraway seeds, or sesame seeds as desired.

    Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (top/bottom heat) for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
Tip
These savory rolls taste excellent with a dollop of cream cheese or fine liver sausage. They are also ideal for a picnic or as a snack for school and work.
