Ingredients for the Rolls
- 500 g Wheat Flour Type 405
- 250 ml Still Water
- 80 ml Neutral Vegetable Oil
- 21 g Fresh Yeast
- 2 tsp Fine Table Salt
- 250 g Classic Mozzarella
- 100 g Breakfast Bacon
- 1 tsp Dried Marjoram
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tbsp Fresh Chives
For Brushing and Sprinkling
- 1 piece Eggs 10-pack
- 1 tbsp Whole Poppy Seeds
- 1 tbsp Whole Caraway Seeds
- 1 tbsp Whole Sesame Seeds
Serving Suggestion
- 100 g Natural Cream Cheese
- 100 g Fine Liver Sausage
Prepare the Dough
- 1Place the flour in a bowl. Dissolve the fresh yeast in lukewarm water and add it to the flour along with the oil, salt, marjoram, garlic granules, and finely chopped chives.
- 2Cut the mozzarella into small cubes and finely dice the bacon. Add both to the dough as well.
- 3Knead everything by hand or with a food processor to form a smooth dough. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 30-45 minutes until its volume has significantly increased.
Shape and Bake
- 1Divide the dough into 10 equal portions. Shape each portion by hand into a round ball (roll).
- 2Place the rolls in a greased baking dish or one lined with parchment paper.
- 3Whisk the egg with a pinch of salt. Generously brush the rolls with the egg.
- 4Sprinkle with poppy seeds, caraway seeds, or sesame seeds as desired.
- 5Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (top/bottom heat) for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
Tip
These savory rolls taste excellent with a dollop of cream cheese or fine liver sausage. They are also ideal for a picnic or as a snack for school and work.
