
Oatmeal with Caramelized Banana

Preparation method
Ingredients overview
- 100 g rolled oats
- 2 tsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 200 ml low-fat milk
- 100 g banana
- 1 tbsp liquid honey
- 250 ml still water
Combine the oats with the chia seeds, vanilla extract, milk, and water in a medium saucepan. Cook the mixture over medium heat for about 9–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the porridge reaches the desired creamy consistency. Remove the pot from the heat, cover it, and let the oatmeal rest for another 2–3 minutes.
Meanwhile, heat a coated pan over medium heat. Peel the banana, cut it lengthwise and then crosswise, creating four pieces. Place the banana pieces in the pan, drizzle them with honey, and fry them for 1–2 minutes on both sides until golden brown and caramelized.
Divide the finished oatmeal into two bowls and serve each portion with the warm, caramelized banana pieces.
Chef's tip
Alternatively to the pan, you can also caramelize the bananas in the oven: Bake them at 215–220 °C for about 8–9 minutes.
