Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions. Press each portion evenly and thinly onto a tortilla, so that the meat covers the entire surface up to the edge.
Heat a pan over medium heat and add the vegetable oil. Once the oil is hot, place a tortilla meat-side down into the pan. Fry for about 2–3 minutes until the meat is fully cooked through and lightly browned.
Carefully flip the tortilla with a spatula. Reduce the heat slightly and immediately place a slice of cheddar on the hot meat. Fry for another 1–2 minutes until the cheese is melted and the underside of the tortilla becomes golden brown and crispy. Repeat with the remaining tortillas.
